What is the new goal of Google Inc? That is the question I am asking myself about the most powerful internet company today. Google has seen its stock drop drastically in the past year, nearly 60% Year to date. What are its plans now that it has not found a revenue stream besides the powerful search marketplace it has created? These are the thoughts from the outside in which sometimes can be helpful for those on the inside.
The top execs at Google are visionaries looking ahead even in a tough economy. They have begun a cost saving process that is normal for most corporations during times like this; it is now time for the talented and brilliant people they have hired over the past five years to step up and show why they are the top engineers, programmers, and support staff in the field today. Google has a perfect storm ahead of itself; from the business side of slowing revenues, near peak search expansion and one true revenue source to an economy that is in recession when Google had no cause of the problem.
What Google is doing well has already happened; they have the best in the game right now. The team they have put together will help them over the next 2 years ride out this downturn. This leads to the fact that Google’s internal structure may change slightly but we hope it does not lead to a new way they do business (MSFT 1994 :). It is my hope that they keep this open mind and ask more from the people who made Google what it is today with a refined mission statement other than organizing the worlds information.
